What is Sahaja Yoga?

Sahaja Yoga is a simple and effortless meditation technique with a significant difference over other approaches.
Few people understand what real meditation is. Some regard it as mental concentration, others as an imagination of peaceful settings.
The truth is that meditation is a state of silence, peace and satisfaction that cannot be achieved using the mind, but rather through the balancing of energy within us.
Introduction to the subtle energy system
For thousands of years philosophies all over the world have described a system of energy within all human beings. The system is said to consist of seven main energy centres known as chakras, three channels known as nadhis, and a dormant energy at the base of the spine known as kundalini.
Sahaja Yoga meditation starts when this kundalini energy rises through the chakras to the top of the head, taking us into a state of silence known as thoughtless awareness. This is real meditation and the first experience is known as 'Self realization'.
Following the raising of your kundalini energy, or self realization, Sahaja Yoga will teach you how to cleanse the subtle system and deepen your meditations.
